Ex governor Cuffaro gets out of prison. Vows not to return to political life, says Mafia 'disgusting'

Former Sicily regional governor Salvatore Cuffaro was released from prison Sunday after serving 4 years and 11 months of a seven year sentence for conniving with Cosa Nostra.
Cuffaro said he would not return to political life. “In my conscience I am innocent,” he claimed as he left Rome’s Rebibbia prison.
“I crashed into the Mafia. If I could go back I would use an airbag.
“I made some mistakes, I don’t want to hide it. I paid for them, others didn’t. Now I believe I have the right to start again”.
“The Mafia is disgusting,” he added, “it is the biggest cancer we have in Sicily”.
