Sicily proposes Marsala as wine capital. Regional councillor to present proposal on Friday at Expo

Sicily is launching a proposal to make Marsala the Mediterranean capital of wine, announced Sicilian Regional Agriculture Councillor Nino Caleca at a conference on Tuesday.

“An initiative in which I intend to involve the (Sicilian) Department of Agriculture, the Institute of Wine and Oil, the Sicilian universities, nurseries and the IPAB structure, with the aim of creating a center of higher education in the field of viticulture, which will see the presence and participation of Mediterranean countries in particular,” Caleca explained at the margins of the presentation of the Enovitis trade fair for wine and olive oil making technology in Milan.

Caleca added that he will air the proposal on Friday at Milan Expo 2015’s Bio-Mediterranean Cluster with the aim of concluding a partnership agreement by the end of the food-themed world fair.
