TIM installs solar cooling systems in Sicily plants

TIM (Telecom Italia) has announced that its Enna and Caltanissetta plants in Sicily are the first to boast solar-powered air conditioning systems, reducing electricity costs by 70 percent. The innovative technology harnesses the heat of the sun to produce cold water and cool down industrial plants, a system that is particularly efficient in the summer months when there’s a high demand for air conditioning, said the company. Solar cooling systems will now be installed in two other Sicilian plants – Agrigento and Sciacca – resulting in annual energy savings of around 400 MWh at the four facilities.
