House approves anti-corruption bill by wide majority

Italy's Lower House on Thursday approved an anti-corruption bill by a wide majority - 280 yeas to 53 nays and 11 abstentions. Members of the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) and Silvio Berluscon's center-right Forza Italia (FI) party opposed the bill and the anti-immigrant, anti-euro Northern League party abstained. Earlier Raffaele Cantone, the head of Italy's anti-corruption authority, said the bill was to the "best possible" legislation.
